This is a git snapshot of the source code for Micropolis released under the GNU GPLv3. This game simulates building and managing a whole city. The goal of the game is to build and design a city. All of the video images of Afghanistan in this 6:23 video were shot by Carol Ruth Silver using an off-the-shelf consumer hand-held camera that fits in a coat pocket. This video short tells a brief version of the story of Carol Ruth Silver's non-profit work in bringing Linux-powered OLPC netbook computers to the children of Afghanistan. The story starts at a meeting of OLPC users in San Francisco, California, where Carol is getting some help configuring her computer. She also has decided to...

tested with VMWare. this Linux distro is meant to be educational just like Edubuntu (an educational version of Ubuntu). you can also customize your account with colours, usernames, and grades of your choice. my personal choices: colour: blue (my favourite colour) name: Arthur (my real name) level: 5th grade. make sure you have the Sugar OS CD-ROM on the virtual machine at all times,or the virtual machine will not find an OS! my experience is really good with this OS so far.

Derived from the XO-1 viewfinder. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:330 "This is a viewfinder that plugs into the USB slot of an OLPC XO laptop to help kids align the forward-facing camera." The XO-4 has a different USB port configuration than the XO-1. I modified the original .STL file to reflect the changed port arrangement so this Thing would work with the XO-4. This thing was made with Tinkercad. Edit it online https://tinkercad.com/things/2SmRiO7mPlN

We speak with Eric Deritis from AMD as he gives us an overview of the OLPC. The One Laptop Per Child project is an important one, and Eric not only shows us a near-final build of the hardware and software, but he also gives us some background on the project itself, and why it's impact could be so huge. One quote he gave us was that the product isn't meant to reach the next billion people in the world, but rather it's meant to reach the last billion people. Powerful stuff.

FatdogArm Beta is a complete-rebuild of FatdogArm, using LFS 7.4 as the base (glibc 2.18 and gcc 4.8.1). Why give a Laptop? See http://laptop.org and http://laptop.org/givemany Substitute the word Laptop, with the word Education, and you have much of the answer. XOs make it possible to collaborate, learn, teach, and publish at no cost. They inspire new forms of learning, and attention to education. And the provide access to digital texts in places too remote to send and update physical books in a cost-effective way.
